Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent

The Stations of the Cross are prayed at St. Anne’s each Friday at 5:30pm during Lent.

The St. Anne’s Church Stations of the Cross have been restored. Each was created solely in plaster, in one solid mould as relief sculptures with frame. The images of the molds were unpainted and the frames were varnished to appear wooden. Over the century, the plaster moulds have chipped, some cracked, and the appearance of each has aged considerably with discolouration and darkening, especially the unpainted images. These have now been carefully restored, honouring the original artist’s intent of no colour on the figures within the station. However, it was always difficult to distinguish Our Lord and Our Lady in the beautiful, unpainted, relief sculptures of each station. Our Lord and Our Lady can now be easily identified, especially Our Lord, while still respecting and keeping the original artist’s monochrome concept.
